July 17-18: Coordinated and accompanied the Tone-Numata region's Otone Sake Brewery on their Hong Kong promotion

Session and pairing event for professionals and the general public held in Hong Kong

For two days from July 17th to 18th, we coordinated and accompanied Otone Sake Brewery in the Tone-Numata region of Gunma Prefecture on their promotion in Hong Kong.

With the cooperation of Oliver Chan, a local instructor at the Hong Kong Wine Academy who is also involved in retail sales and sake tourism sales, we held sessions for professionals, sessions for the general public, and a sake pairing event.

In the professional session, about 15 people including purchasing staff from local retailers and beverage staff from restaurants gathered to talk about the characteristics and commitment of GI Tone-Numata and Otone Sake Brewery. In the general session, about 20 students studying Japanese sake from the Hong Kong Wine Academy gathered and exchanged opinions with each other about the aroma and flavor.

The pairing event was held in a Japanese izakaya restaurant, where over 50 guests were able to experience how well Otone Sake Brewery's sake goes with food.

In Hong Kong, there are no customs duties on imported alcoholic beverages, so many importers are able to import any type of alcohol they like, and I've heard that brands that don't do proper marketing tend to disappear from the market.

After the Hong Kong promotion, we started receiving orders at a rate of over 10 cases per month, and we realized the significance of the brewers or master brewers being able to introduce sake to customers and professionals face-to-face.
